Import Horizontal Geometry

Used to ...

You can access this tool from the following:

  • Ribbon: Geometry > General Tools > Import/Export split button

Civil Geometry commands can import geometry elements that are stored in the cogo databases if they are MX (FIL), InRoads (ALG or FIL), or GEOPAK (GPK )elements.

If any of the following conditions are true, the imported geometry will not be ruled:

If the following is true, then a too many elements message is produced:

  • Number of adjacent lines is greater than 20

If the following are true, then a too complex message is produced:

  • First element is a spiral

  • Last element is a spiral

  • Back to back spirals (example, double spirals or reverse spirals)

  • Spirals must be tangent to the previous element ( tangential differences must be less than 0.1 seconds or it is consider non-tangent)

  • Spirals must be tangent to the next element (tangential differences must be less than 0.1 seconds or it is consider non-tangent)

  • Single spiral between adjacent circular arcs and the circular arcs are reversing (example, back curve to the left and the ahead curve to the right or vice versa)

  • Adjacent elements are not coincident (example, delta x less than 0.0001 and delta y less than 0.0001 or it is consider non-coincident)

  • Elements are too short (example, length is less than 0.5)

  • Circular arcs with a sweep angle of 180 degrees (example, median noses or loop ramps)
